My September Issue - Favourite so far: Brazilian ELLE

THE SEPTEMBER ISSUE OF

I enjoyed the whole edition, mostly the special about Minas Gerais (huge Brazilian state).

The places in Minas Gerais where I would love to celebrate my month.

  • It's easy to know when I liked the mag.
  •

    • Article about frizzy hair (my hair) ,
    BEAUTIFUL photoshoots:

And the crème de la crème:
in this magazine I found the gift that I wanted to give myself.

This bracelet, from designer Francesca Romana Diana, is called GOOD NEWS. I called the shop right after seeing it on the mag, and yesterday it was on my arm. Thanks to my mag for the suggestion!

I bought a couple of other bracelets because they are really nice
and THIS IS MY MONTH after all !

Thanks to my mag! - I got on my boots!

This cute pair of ankle boots from Brazilian designer Fabia Bercsek I bought after seeing them on Joyce Pascowitch magazine (worn by actress Cleo Pires, issue number 5 from February 2007 - my favorite so far).

I called the designer shop in Sao Paulo and they send it to me by mail (I was so desperately in love that I couldn't take the risk of waiting to go there and not finding it).

After that, I also bought a beautiful bag and an always praised dress (this time personally, not via mail) from this same designer, that I got to know
    thanks to my mag!

And still with Saraiva, a case of Thanks to my mag! - I got my bag

I bought a Norway travel guide (Norwegian magazines!!!) from this Dorling Kindersley company at Saraiva bookshop, so I should win a shopping bag because of this smart acquisition. But for some incomprehensible reason the cashier didn't give the deserved bag to me (sincerely, I cannot say that it's his fault, because the volume of magazines that he registered with the travel guide could be really disturbing for someone that is semrevista;magless;sansmagazine).

Leaving the store, I got their magazine, Almanaque Saraiva and, miraculously, I took an instantly look at it - seeing the promotion, I came back to my inattentive cashier and I received my (not only deserved, but at that time desired) brand new bag.

My mags are always there for me!

Thanks to my mag! - I found myself in Montevideo

A couple of months ago I decided to spend a weekend in Montevideo, the capital of Uruguay. As I had never been there before, I needed a city guide, but the only guides containing tips about this city are those rough ones referring to the whole of South America – I couldn’t find even one solo about Uruguay, let alone the city.

As I didn’t want to carry a thousand pages guide (in black and white and without pictures!) around the city, I took with me this issue of GOL airlines magazine, that proved to have all the information and tips that I needed. I’m not exaggerating: I’m really into city guides, and I know that many of them have plenty of useless information, and this reportage went just to the point. Of course that I have to consider that Montevideo is a small and “easy” city – for a megalopolis like Sao Paulo, for example, an entire of those “more than 600 pages” Vogue issues would be needed to guide someone.

One for the road: with the company of my improvised guide, I had a pleasant weekend on the nice city of Montevideo.

    It came with my mag

    Gold Belt, Gold Bag

This belt came with a Spanish magazine (oh, the Spanish!). I remember when I bought it in a kiosk in Passeig de Gràcia, Barcelona, in 2006. But I don’t remember which magazine it was! Sorry. Worst with the bag. It was also a Spanish one, but I don’t even remember when or where I bought it.

But here’s what matters: the belt I still have, and after almost three years, it’s still up-to-date. It’s one of my favorites.
The bag, well, it didn’t resist a massive use – especially because it was always over weighted with… my mags. But I liked it so much that I chose it to use on the New Year’s Eve* that I spent in Buenos Aires. Good memories.

It seems that these magazine gifts will become a tradition on my New Year’s Eve celebrations. The bag brought me a lot of luck. Just hoping that with the sandals the history will be confirmed in 2009.

    It came with my mag!

Every now and then some magazines come with a souvenir.
    I'm an easy victim, yes.
The good news is that some of them seem to be tailored for me.

This pair of brown sandals came with an issue of Telva, a Spanish magazine. I used it on the New Year's Eve celebration at Copacabana beach!

Thanks to my mag! - I "discovered" Philip Roth

Although I had listened his name many times before, it was just a couple of years ago, after reading an article about Philip Roth on brazilian BRAVO magazine, that I finally decided to know this author, starting with Portnoy's Complaint.

Since then, Roth became one of my favourite authors - something close to an addiction.

Thanks to my mag! - Fixed my jacket

I had a problem with the sleeves of my jacket – they were too long, and, HUGE mistake, I tried to fix them by myself. The obvious happened, and I flucked with the whole piece – that ended up resting a long time on my closet. When I saw this editorial on GLAMOUR LATINOAMÉRICA, January 2007 issue, I found the solution to my damaged jacket – turning it to a CHAQUETA DE MANGAS TRES CUARTOS. I sent the piece (above, left) and the mag (right) to my mom (I learned, yes), and she did it! Since its rebirth as a three-quarter sleeve jacket, my piece came back to the “on duty” part of my closet.
    Thanks to my mag!
